Course Description

The next project for our children’s classes will be making a kimono style jacket! We know how much the children would like to make clothes, and this is the perfect layering jacket to get them started.

What skills will the children learn?

  • Measure themselves to find out what pattern size they are.
  • Trace and cut out the sewing pattern, learning what all the symbols on the pattern mean.
  • How to finish the inside of the jacket so the fabric doesn’t fray – french seams

Over the 5 weeks we will guide them through each step, explaining what we are doing and why it’s important.

What’s included in the price of the course?

  • Full individual use of Janome sewing machines and overlockers.
  • Use of premium sewing tools
  • Selection of standard colour sewing threads (black, navy blue, white and cream)
  • Full tuition
  • Kimono Jacket Pattern – that they have traced in their size

What do I need to bring?

We will provide the fabric needed, although if your child would like to provide their own fabric they are more than welcome to do so, we suggest cotton or cotton blend.

Optional Course kit

We have handpicked a collection of premium Germany haberdashery equipment from the Prym range which complements this course. If you would like to purchase this kit, please click here for more details and to buy. We will prepare it for you and have it ready for you on your first lesson.

Our sewing classes are relaxed and friendly, taking place at our beautiful studio. Class sizes are kept small to ensure everyone gets the time and attention they need but this does mean that booking is essential in advance as classes sell out quickly.
