Make Your Own Copenhagen Coat

The Copenhagen Coat is an unlined, knee-length easy-fit coat perfect for Spring/Autumn. The coat is designed with roomy patch pockets, button front and a pinked edge. Great for a first coat project, or if you need a stylish new look for the weekend.

FIT
A generous fit, with room to wear over a sweater.

SIZE RANGE

The pattern includes the extended size range and goes from size 6 – 22. See product image for full sizing details

VARIATIONS
The pattern is designed to be knee-length but it would work just as well as a 3/4 length jacket, mid-calf coat or floor-sweeper!

LEVEL
A coat might seem like a big project but in fact coat-weight fabrics are surprisingly easy to work with and because there is a generous ease they are not difficult to fit. Have a go!

FABRIC
Suitable for a  double-face fabric that doesn’t fray as you will see both sides. We have selected a beautiful softshell 3-layer raincoat fabric which is double-face and has a fleece backing from our collection so that we are all sewing with fabrics that we are familiar with and are therefore able to troubleshoot any problems that any students encounter.

The Sew-Along  runs over a series of 2 weeks with two 3hr class allowing you enough time to digest each stage in between classes and maybe make another one alongside. The first class will include a introduction to the coat by the pattern designers themselves, Alice and Lilia and they may even pop back at the end to see you fabulous coats made up!

What’s included in the price of the course?

  • The price of the sew along includes everything you need including the pattern, fabric, haberdashery and classes. Unlike pre recorded classes you can ask questions as you go along and you have links to a Sew Along support group in between sessions. Alice and Lilia from Alice and Co Patterns will also join us at the beginning and end of the group to introduce themselves and answer any questions.
  • 2 x 3 hour tutorials guiding you through each step of your coat
  • Inclusion in a WhatsApp group for the duration of the course

How will it work?

The class will take place in a ‘virtual classroom’ using the video meeting software Zoom. You will need to have Zoom installed on the device you intend to use for the class, it’s free and easy to use. If you haven’t used Zoom before we suggest you have a practice before the class. Please download the free version via this link https://zoom.us/meetings

  • We also suggest choosing a quiet area to set up your machine next to your device. To achieve the best internet connection please reduce as many items as you can that are connected to your router.
  • You will receive an email link once you have signed up that will take you directly to the class. All you need to do is click on the link just before we are due to start. We suggest signing in 10 mins before the start time, you will be held in a virtual waiting room.
  • We encourage you to turn on your own video and audio so we can interact, and you can ask us questions – the idea is that it’s as much like an in-person class as possible!
