Course Description

For this year’s coat weekender, I have chosen The Anni Blazer by Dragonfly patterns.

This is a lovely all-year-round staple. This easy jacket is semi-fitted, unlined, with trimmed-back raw seams on the outside, a front shaped hemline, one button closure and with two sleeve options: cuff trimmed-back raw seams or all-in-one turned up sleeves.

What skills will I learn?

How to work with boiled wool, including the following techniques 

  • Steaming boiled wool
  • Easing wool seams 
  • Seam grading 
  • Stay stitching  
  • Stabilising with stay tape
  • Working with a walking foot
  • How to make a collar with collar stand
  • Mock fell seams
  • Sleeve insertion
  • Covered buttons

What’s included in the price of the course?

  • Paper pattern and step-by-step instruction booklet
  • Haberdashery pack to include black or white stay tape, choice of thread, 1 x 20mm covered button, interfacing

1.4m of 150cm wide boiled wool fabric

This pattern ranges from 30” 76cm to 42” 106cm bust

Skill level – Beginner/Improver

This course is suitable for those who have used a sewing machine before, can confidently thread the machine and bobbin, and have completed at least one simple sewing project. Note: If you are new to sewing, it is advisable that you join our beginners machine course before enrolling on this course.

Our sewing classes are relaxed and friendly, taking place at our beautiful studio. Class sizes are kept small to ensure everyone gets the time and attention they need. This does mean that booking is essential. The course will only run if there are sufficient numbers.
