Course Description

Join in our series of online Sew-Alongs and learn to sew an indigo dress from Tilly and the Buttons.

This class is a great introduction to dressmaking, perfect for beginners. It runs over a series of 4 weeks with one 2hr class every week allowing you enough time to digest each stage in between classes and maybe make another one alongside.

Indigo has a bodice shaped with bust darts, gently curved empire waistline, and floaty gathered skirt. Make it as a top with dipped hem ending at the low hip, or a knee-length dress with straight hem and pockets. Choose from three-quarter flounce sleeves or slim-fitting bracelet sleeves. Sew it with classic gathered seams or elevate it to a stand-out piece in your wardrobe with the pretty exposed frill seam. You’ll want to wear one every day of the week.

How does it work?

The class will take place in a ‘virtual classroom’ using the video meeting software Zoom. You will need to have Zoom installed on the device you intend to use for the class, it’s free and easy to use. If you haven’t used Zoom before we suggest you have a practice before the class. Please download the free version via this link

  • We also suggest choosing a quiet area to set up your machine next to your device. To achieve the best internet connection please reduce as many items as you can that are connected to your router.
  • You will receive an email you a link that will take you directly to the class. All you need to do is click on the link just before we are due to start. We suggest signing in 10 mins before the start time, you will be held in a virtual waiting room.
  • We encourage you to turn on your own video and audio so we can interact, and you can ask us questions – the idea is that it’s as much like an in-person class as possible!

  • Purchase your pattern here at our website click here to take you straight there.
  • Calculate the size you need (Don’t worry if your need help with this I am here to help)
  •  Once you have your pattern either cut out your size or trace using patterntrace to trace off your size and then cut out.
  • Cut out your fabric pieces and any interfacing and have them all ready for the start of the 1st class.
