Advanced Overlocking

Day – Wednesday Evenings (See Choose a course date above)

Time – 7-9pm

This course is designed for students who have done our beginners overlocking course and feel confident on their machines and want to learn more techniques. We will explore lots of advanced techniques (see below) and you will have chance to practice and produce samples for your techniques bible.

• Set the machine for rolled hems
• Set the machine for a flatlock seam for active wear
• Discussion of decorative threads and woolly nylon.
• How to use an overlocker to overlock around inside corners
• How to produce neat convex and concave curves
• How to incorporate stabilizing tape into an overlocked seam
• How to start and stop to produce a neat finish
• Overlocking in the round on neck bands
• How to produce a mock neckband
• How to fit and use a piping foot
• How to fit and use an elastic attachment
• How to attach and use a gathering foot

• A course notes which includes all the information covered in your course.
• Course Kit – This will include fabric to practise your samples
• Inclusion in a WhatsApp group for the duration of the course
• Membership of our Social Society WhatsApp group

For your course you will need to ensure you have the following items.  ensure you are fully prepared to make the most of your classes

• Overlock Machine – You will need to have your own overlock machine or perhaps you could  borrow one. Please ensure you have your manual and coloured threads to hand.  If you need help choosing a machine or need a service please head over to our trusted supplier via this link. 

You may want to consider also buying spare overlock needles (these are specific to your machine)
