  • No – the studio is fully equipped with high-quality equipment.
You are welcome to bring your own machine, especially if you would like help in how to use it. Please be aware, though, that we cannot accept liability if you have any problems with your own machine. It will need to be in good working order and electrically safe, with a working foot cable, power pedal and machine-specific instructions. You will also need to carry your machine down a (well-lit) path to our studio. If you don’t have any of the required machine accessories, you could then use a studio machine for that part of the course.

  • Yes, there is free parking on the road directly outside the studio. It’s permit-controlled, but not during the normal hours of our classes.

  • When you register for a new course, you will receive clear details on anything you might need to bring with you. We’ll give you tips on where to buy fabric, if you need any for your course. You’ll also be able to find all the info by checking the course details on this website, and you can always email us if you have any queries. Otherwise, you’ll only need to bring yourself, plus anything you’d like to drink. Over time, you will need some sewing items for your own personal use. Carefully selected haberdashery supplies are available to purchase from our studio, if required, and we offer an optional haberdashery kit for each course. We also provide all the required patterns and hand-outs, specific to each course.

  • Yes – please just click on the ‘SHOP’ tab at the top of this page. You can then collect your order from our studio whenever it suits you. Please note: all our haberdashery supplies are carefully selected and competitively priced. They are chosen for their high quality, rather than being the cheapest available, and we sell them at the lowest recommended retail prices. I’m more interested in making sure you have good tools to work with than making a profit on these sales! I’ll even refund the difference if you find the same items available cheaper elsewhere.

  • Yes! We advise that you pre-wash your fabrics prior to sewing as fabrics often shrink after washing. Make sure you fully open out your fabric prior to washing. You will find the specific washing instructions for each fabric on our site in the table in the fabric description. You may want to test wash a swatch of your fabric first.

  • Our fabrics are priced and sold in half metre increments, so 1 unit equals 0.5 metres, 2 units = 1 metre, 3 units = 1.5metres etc.

As a simple rule whatever measurement you need in metres, just double it up and you’ll have the unit you need. if you need 2.5 metres, put 5 in the quantity box.

  • You will automatically get a selection of fabric swatches that we think you may like with each order. If you would like anything specific please email us at hello@thestudioatnumber30.co.uk.   You can request up to five fabric swatches.

  • In each fabric description we have provided a table with more detail on the specific fabric. Here you will find the details of the matching thread colour for that particular fabric detailed for you. You can then select the thread number from the thread category. You should also find a quick link to the threads in the images below the fabric as a related products.
