Course Structure
Session 1: Kaye will guide you through cutting out and preparing your jacket pieces.
Sessions 2–4: Donna will introduce you to the art of sashiko embroidery. You’ll learn beautiful hand-stitched patterns to embellish your pockets and neckband, adding texture, character, and a personal touch to your garment.
Sessions 5–6: Kaye returns to lead you through construction, helping you assemble your embroidered pieces into a stylish, finished jacket you’ll be proud to wear.
What skills will I learn?
These course have been thoughtfully structured to provide you with all the knowledge and practical experience needed to create a stunning kimono style jacket. Here’s what’s included:
- Pattern preparation
- Traditional Japanese sashiko embroidery techniques
- Garment construction and sewing skills
- How to combine decorative stitching with wearable fashion

- A completed sashiko-embellished denim jacket, made by you from start to finish

What Do I Need To Bring With Me To The Course
You will need to bring
The sewing Part
- Your sewing machine plus instruction manual and extension cable for weeks 5 and 6
- Fabric to make your jacket ( We will send you a list of suggested fabrics and quantity required for your size)
- You will need a sewing tool kit (You will be given a list of what to bring)
The Sashiko part
- Your Sashiko tools including needles thread and marker pen ( We will send you an exact list )
What else do I need to know?
Once you book, you’ll get a confirmation email — just make sure we’ve got your phone number, so it reaches you! We’ll also add you to a lovely little WhatsApp group with the rest of your course-mates before you get started, so you can say hello and get excited together.
A couple of practical notes: our classes are non-refundable, so do take a peek at your diary before booking to make sure the dates work for you. It’s also worth having a read of our FAQs and T’s & C’s, just so you know what to expect.
