Course Description

This workshop one of a series which explores various garment making techniques. We will take you through each technique step by step the “Kaye Way” You will produce your own scaled samples for your techniques bible. Pace of learning will be dictated by you and unlike YouTube you will have a chance to ask as may questions as you like!

What skills will I learn?

We will teach and demonstrate the follow techniques

  • Single turned hem
  • Double turned hem
  • Pin hem
  • Bias bound hem
  • Blind hem
  • Rolled hem- Machined and using an overlocker
  • Faced hem

You will perform each technique on a scaled down sample all backed up with a worksheet for you to keep. You will then be able to file in your techniques bible for future reference.

What’s included in the price of the course?

  • You will be provided with worksheets for each technique you will be able to pair these worksheets with your samples to create your own techniques bible.
  • Inclusion in a WhatsApp group for the duration of the course
  • Membership of our Sewcial Society
  • The hall that we will be using  is a registered Covid secure venue with immaculate facilities and plenty of free parking.

Please note groups are kept small with a maximum of 5 students so early booking is advised. We reserve the right to cancel courses if there is insufficient numbers.

What do I need to prepare in advance of the course?

  • You will need to bring your own sewing machine and all its accessories, bobbin and thread.
  • Your own extension cable.
  • A blind hem and rolled hem foot for your machine

This course is aimed at those who have had some experience at garment making and can use a domestic sewing machine without assistance.
