Course Description
Let’s take the guess work out of choosing garments to make or buy!
Join us for an exciting in-person, interactive workshop getting to know your own personal style and enjoy the feel good factor that comes from this. Your morning will be packed with discussion of theories and concepts to help you examine, explore and develop your own unique style so you can be confident that the clothes you sew (and/or buy) will be the ones you always reach for and love to wear again and again.
What Skills Will I Learn
- Deciding where to start! Is it the fabric that speaks to you or is it the garment design you fall in love with?
- Lets talk colour and how to choose the most flattering hues for you
- Exploring your silhouette, Learn to dress to accentuate your best features. Are you a Betty Boobs, Hippy Hettie or Straight Sandra!
- Work with it! Learn how to identity and choose clothes/sewing patterns that work best with your body shape. We will dive deep into necklines, waistlines and hems and discuss which details best suits each of our body types.
- Styling tips and tricks! Lets talk about how to add accessorises to complete an outfit and how to choose your most flattering scale and design.
- Plus oodles of inspiration! Our aim is for you to walk away with

- Practical tips and tools to create outfits you love
- Ideas for wardrobe that reflects your authentic self
About The Tutor
Alice is one half of Alice & Co Patterns. Along with her daughter Lilia they are a London based team designing patterns and teaching pattern cutting. They are passionate about creating modern patterns that fit well and you love to wear.
Alice is a designer, pattern cutter and teacher, with over 20 years experience making fabulous made-to-measure clothes for women under her label Alice & Co. Whenever she can, Alice likes to travel the world seeking design inspiration and adding to her ever growing fabric and haberdashery stash! Lilia has been making her own clothes since she could thread a needle, and now works as a Textile Conservation Display Specialist at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
We are very privileged to have Alice teach for us and look forward to welcoming her.

The venue has a large spacious well managed space close to Hitchin train station. It has lots of free parking and excellent toilet and kitchen facilities.
