Course Description
This workshop one of a series which explores various garment making techniques. We will take you through each technique step by step the “Kaye Way” You will produce your own scaled samples for your techniques bible. Pace of learning will be dictated by you and unlike YouTube you will have a chance to ask as may questions as you like! In this Detail series we will be looking at simple details and how they can be used on garments in a contemporary way which echos the trend in ready to wear garments at the moment.
What skills will I learn?
We will teach and demonstrate the follow techniques
- Exploring what is a tuck
- Exploring the following types of tucks – Plain,Blind,Cross,Shell,Spaced, Darted,Corded and Pin tucks
- How to identify and accurately mark tucks on your fabric
- Techniques for sewing and top stitching them
- How to do pintucks using a pin tucking machine foot on your machine
You will perform each technique on a scaled down sample all backed up with a worksheet for you to keep. You will then be able to file in your techniques bible for future reference.

- The hall that we will be using is a registered Covid secure venue with immaculate facilities and plenty of free parking.
What do I need to prepare in advance of the course?
- You will need to bring your own sewing machine and all its accessories, bobbin and thread. You will also need to provide your own extension cable. If you do not have a machine borrow one or if you want help choosing a new machine please follow this link to see our recommendations.
